The interior design program, unique in Quebec, is the only one to offer a university education whose specific concerns relate to interior environments.

It offers a course that encourages the development of creativity, analytical skills and critical attitudes in order to enable graduates to become designers capable of imagining, representing and mastering the material realization of interior spaces.

Students are called upon to look into specific problems linked to the understanding and representation of space, but also to the relationship between the person and his environment. Learning is based on a balance between theory and practice. Graduates are prepared to intervene in several fields of activity where the design of complex living spaces is increasingly required.

Learning is staggered so that basic knowledge, in theory and design, is acquired in the first year, while in the second year, knowledge more specific to the discipline of interior design is assimilated; Finally, the third year provides training leading to the broadening of the student’s thinking.

The scale of interior design projects submitted to students progresses from a micro-scale habitat to a large-scale project. The integration of different knowledge is achieved during the completion of the end-of-studies project, the final stage of the journey.

The bachelor’s program in interior design aims to ensure a mastery of the fundamentals of interior design and to familiarize the student with complementary fields of study. It respects a balance between theoretical courses and the development of projects in the workshop, thanks to which the student learns to master technical and professional tools. The program thus encourages the acquisition of problem-solving skills, as well as the development of creativity and innovation. Finally, it allows the student to become familiar with the fields of intervention specific to Quebec and the major international currents, particularly in terms of technological innovations.
