Gaming specialist, Jonathan Guittard settles in downtown Riom. His goal: a lot of repairs and a little sales.

Working in the repair of game consoles at his home, Jonathan Guittard took the plunge and moved to 26, rue de l’Hôtel-de-Ville in Riom under the name of Game Over’gne. “I want people to push my door on their own, passing in the street,” explains the 30-year-old. Even if its main activity remains repair, it will be possible, depending on its stocks, to buy second-hand video games, consoles and accessories in its shop. His goal ? “90% fix, 10% sell. »

Originally from Pessatois, the young man decided to put his bags down in Riom. On the one hand because he is “allergic” to the big city – hear Clermont-Ferrand – but above all because the city of Saint-Amable is full of gaming enthusiasts.

For all generations

For his repairs, Jonathan Guittard recovers console parts by buying them from stores, individuals, but also through donations. Often customers wishing to get rid of broken or unused consoles. Everything is useful to him, up to the small screw of a Playstation.

Its objective is to practice the circular economy and recycle as much as possible to throw away as little as possible. Contrary to what he believed, his clientele is made up of all generations. It goes “from the little 6-year-old to the 65-year-old gamer”, smiles the manager. “Sometimes a fairly old person brings me a console to repair and when I ask him if it’s his grandson’s, he replies ‘no, it’s mine’”, jokes the gamer.

Furniture, clothing and tattoos… City tour of the new stores in Riom (Puy-de-Dôme)

Passionate about his field, Jonathan Guittard started this professional activity a year and a half ago. His home. “People came directly to me”, so, to attract new customers and have a place dedicated to his trade, he finally decided to open a shop. Until then, his most frequent repairs are the most recent consoles such as the Nintendo Switch, “the controllers more precisely”, the PS4… And also, the PS5! “They came out recently and I’ve already had eight in my hands,” continues the repairer. But what he prefers are old retro consoles, even if “they’re the most solid, so I very rarely repair them. »

In his store, finally “his workshop”, the man is already busy preparing everything for the opening, Monday, November 7. Its shelves are almost all empty. Except one. Behind his counter, a multitude of game consoles are patiently waiting to pass through his hands. “I will collect the parts for these consoles, so they will not be offered for sale. “Unlike many other brands, the 30-year-old has chosen to specialize only in the field of gaming. “I don’t do telephony, other colleagues are already doing very well in Riom,” he says.

“I buy in batches, I repair and then I resell”

If he repeats it, he is above all a repairer and not a seller, it is still part of his activities. For example, he sometimes receives or buys consoles that are a priori HS (out of service) for their parts, and finally manages to repair them. “I buy in batches, I repair and then I resell” he summarizes. It will therefore remain occasional, but it will be possible to find items for sale in his shop very soon.

A new way of shopping at La Fée Moi’Belle

Since the opening of her boutique two weeks ago, Laëtitia Guittard has been working to meet everyone’s needs.

The City of Riom (Puy-de-Dôme) hopes to harmonize the signs of shops in the historic city center

A former personal shopper, the young woman wants to integrate this activity into her new store. The objective is to offer its clients individual services that will meet their expectations.

The store wants to offer clothes at affordable prices.

For this, she takes the care and the time to listen to their wishes and to respond to them as well as possible. “Me, what interests me is the contact. The goal is not for the customer to come in, choose her item and pay for it. I want to offer him specialized follow-up,” she explains. For this, she chooses the pieces she offers for sale, and, most importantly for her, offers clothes for all sizes and all generations, at affordable prices.

A specialized shop

A large separate room of 12m² dedicated to fittings allows customers to feel comfortable there and gives them the possibility of inviting friends (and the sales assistant) there to advise them. The originality of this shop is that it is not limited to what is inside, Laëtitia Guittard undertakes at all costs to find the pieces that her customers are looking for, and which will correspond to their morphologies!

Practice. The fairy Moi’belle, 19, rue François-Croizier in Riom. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
